Scratch & Sniff Richard M. Nixon

Linoleum block print. (2009)

Printed on the porch of a little cabin I was living in when I first moved back to Tennessee in the first warm week that spring. Printed on vinyl flooring material using a crummy rolling pin; this was before I built a bottlejack press. The ink was a mixture of cheap craft acrylic, peppermint extract, and something to thicken it (maybe cornstarch?). I don’t know if anyone who got a copy actually tried scratching it but it should have smelled faintly of peppermint. Printed on kraft and this green painter’s drop paper that quickly turns kraft-colored if exposed to sunlight.

It looks like I was also putting glue in the ink?
